Single Malt is a type of whisky that is distilled from malted barley only, as opposed to blended whiskies which can include grains from different types or even segments from various whiskies. Several key aspects should be noted when it comes to Single Malt:

1. **Malting:** The process begins with barley grains, which, before entering the distillation process, go through a malting stage. In this stage, they are soaked in water, and malt enzymes are added to activate enzymes within the barley. The barley itself starts to undergo changes and becomes a germinated growth called "malt."

During this time, it is stabilized in a column or pot still designed for distillation, breaking down into various compounds that are distilled and dried in separate distillation stages. 3. **Types of Single Malt:** There are different types of Single Malt depending on the place of production and local conditions. For example, production in Scotland can yield different results than in Ireland or Israel. There are unique Single Malt types produced in individual distilleries, and there are many more types produced in larger production facilities.

Single Malt is prevalent, especially in Scotch whisky, but it can also be found in whiskies from various other sources. The sources, processes, and local conditions influence the taste and aroma of each malt individually.
